A squad of 15 children from Black Eagle Judo travelled to Limerick UL for the first major judo tournament of the new year. Our students have been training really hard over the christmas period despite the weather in

preparation for this tournament, and it seems to have paid off with Black Eagle Judo winning a fantastic 12
medals in all.
The Medal Winners were, Double Gold Medal Winner Ciaran Mulroy who not only won the gold medal in his own weight category, but also won the gold medal in the next weight category up, Silver medal winners Philip Kroupa, Michael Tanner & Aoife Mulroy, Bronze medal winners, Aoife Taplin, Roisin Taplin, Sam Kroupa, Joey O'Neill, Niamh Mulroy, Rosie Day & Angela O'Neill.

12 Medals in the first Major Tournament of 2010

Black Eagle Judo, Ardcroney - Nenagh  travelled to the new City West Convention Centre in Dublin last weekend with a squad 15 competitors for the prestigious Irish Open International Judo Tournament. 
 
We had 11 competitors on the first day of the tournament . First up we had Sarah Hassett in the girls under 31kg category, Sarah went on to win the bronze medal in this category. Next up we had the girls under 33kg category which was represented by Eva Clarke and Siofra Buckley, both Eva and Siofra were knocked out in the second round two 
We had two entries in the -45kg category, Rosie Day and Roisin Taplin. Rosie Day took the silver medal and third place went to Roisin Taplin. Aoife Mulroy was beaten and knocked out in the quarter final of the -40kg category and the last of the girls Niamh Mulroy was knocked out of the competition in the third round.
 
The start of the boys competition saw our most promising medal winner Adam Collison sail through to the final beating all his opponants within the time limit by Ippon. Following on in the boys competition we had Laurence Day, Sam Kroupa, Steven O'Neill and Jim Collison who after putting in a tremedous effort were knocked out in the preminary rounds. Our final medal winner of the day was Joey O'Neill who after being beaten in the third round by the eventual winner went on to win the bronze medal in the -41kg group.
 
The second day saw the -16yrs in action, We picked up our sixth international medal when Philip Kroupa won the bronze medal in the -66kg category.
 

Black Eagle Judo brought a squad of 19 to the Leinster Open Judo Championship in Dublin last weekend. The tournament had over 300 competitors competing , including international squads from Northern Ireland and Denmark.
We are delighted to announce that we came back with no fewer than 5 titles and medals including a
Gold Medal.
The medal winners were, Adam Collision GOLD, Aoife Mulroy BRONZE, Rosie Day BRONZE, Ciaran Mulroy BRONZE and Padraig Keane BRONZE. This is a tremendous achievement for a club of our size and age and we should all be very proud of all of our competitors.

Black Eagle Judo students were back in action in Galway last weekend in the second major tournament of the year, The Galway Open Judo Championships.
This tournament is the second in the five ranking events of the season which determines the Irish International Squad for next year.

Out of our 12 competitors the club won an impressive 10 medals which included 3 Gold, 3 Silver and 4 Bronze. Following the results from our last tournament this puts many of our players high up the national rankings. The gold medal winners were Ciaran Mulroy,(who has gone unbeaten this year) Niamh Mulroy & Siofra Buckley, our silver medal winners were Aoife Mulroy, Aoife Taplin and Roisin Taplin, bronze medal winners were Philip Kroupa, Sam Kroupa, Angelia O'Neill and Adam Collison

10 Medals Black Eagle Judo in The Galway Open 2010

The weekend of the 3rd October saw the Black Eagle Judo Competition Squad in action in the Leinster Open Judo Championships. This was the qualifying tournament for the upcoming Irish Open International Judo Championships which will be held in The City West Convention Centre, Dublin on the 23rd October. Out of our 13 competitors we won a total of 10 medals & titles.
Our star player of the tournament was Ciaran Mulroy of Ardcroney who took Silver and a Bronze medal in this very competitive tournament. In Ciaran's first match of the day he was drawn against
the Irish International Eoin Fleming, Ciaran won this match score 2 wazarai's and when on to win the bronze medal in this U16 66kg category. Ciaran also entered into the junior -66kgs category and with very impressive wins, reached the final and took the silver medal.
The other squad members were Philip Kroupa, Angela O'Neill (bronze), Michael Tanner, Joey O'Neill, Niamh Mulroy (bronze), Sam Kroupa (bronze), Darragh Buckley (silver), Aoife Mulroy (silver), Steven O'Neill, Siofra Buckley (bronze), Matthew O'Gorman (bronze), Adam Collison (bronze).

South Coast of England 2 Star Tournament

10 of our competition squad travelled to the UK last weekend (12th Nov) for the south coast 2 star event hosted by Sussex Judo.
The standard was extremely high with the very successful London Judo Club Pinewood dominating the medal tables.
Of course they did'nt have all their own way with 9 out of 10 of Black Eagle Judo players taking medals in 9 categories.
