Mixed Ability Judo for ALL

All Ireland School Finals
Saturday 14th Jan 2012 - Dublin

As part of our continuious  rollout of the Special Needs Judo Program our coaches travelled to Killkenny last weekend (26th Feb) to deliver the latest in our free taster sessions for mixed ability groups.

Black Eagle Judo's Ciaran at the recent international Spanish Training camp (Ciaran left - Alex middle and Vlad right)
Ciaran travelled with the IJA selected national U20 squad to Torrelavega, Spain for a training camp delivered by Jacques le Berre 9th Dan France and double world champion Hirokato Okado of Japan.

The event was hosted by Kilkenny Judo Club and supported by the Kilkenny Sports Partnership. The day was a fantastic success with a number of mixed ability students taking part.

8 International Medals for Black Eagle Judo

The 14 strong squad travelled to Dublin over the two days and competed against Europe and Ireland's top judo competitors and came away with 3 Silver medals and 5 Bronze.
The medal winners are, Silver - Angela O'Neill, Patrick Collins and Thomas Galvin, Bronze - Ciaran Mulroy, Conor Hogan, Adam Collison, Siofra Buckley and Steven O'Neill.

Irish International 2011 a Fantastic Success

This years Irish International Judo Championships which was held in the prestigious City West Conference Centre in Saggart Co Dublin, was by far one of the biggest and best Irish Opens to date. The event attracted over 500 competitors from 15 countries and over a thousand spectators over the two days.
This year saw the introduction of a Special Needs/Mixed ability judo category for the very first time in Irish judo history.

Black Eagles head coach and newly appointed chairman of the inclusion/disability committee of the Irish Judo Association, James Mulroy was presented with a plaque in recognition for his contribution to Special Needs Judo in Ireland. The presentation was made by presidential candidate Mr Sean Gallagher and Irish Judo Association president Mr Frances Treanor.

7 All Ireland Schools Final Medals
14th January 2012

A squad of 10 contested the the All Ireland Schools Finals in Dublin on the weekend of the 14th January 2012.
The club won an impressive 7 medals,
2 Gold, 3 Silver and 2 Bronze.
